Trail - City of Champions

Trail lays claim to this title in part due to the achievement of the Trail Smoke Eaters; the last amateur hockey team to win gold at the World Hockey Championships in 1961.  Trail has also produced talented NHLers, such as Ray Ferraro & Steve Tambellini.  But Trailites just don’t stick with winter sports.  Another proud member of the community is Jason Bay, your 2006 MVP with the Pittsburgh Pirates.  The main local baseball stadium in town adorns his name.

Trail consists of 2 parts; West Trail & East Trail.  West Trail is fascinating to explore with its steep windy roads & lovely houses built along the hillside.  East Trail is evidence of more recent development of the area, with the mighty Columbia River running down the middle.  Nearby Fruitvale, Montrose & Warfield are lovely communities in their own right with a picturesque countryside & panoramic views of the Columbia River.

Located just 10 kilometers North of the U.S. border & between the Selkirk & Monashee mountain ranges, Trail is easily accessible.  The Trail Regional Airport testifies to this with daily filights from Vancouver.

With Red Mountain Resort just 10 minutes away in Rossland, downhill skiing & mountain biking is just a stone’s throw away.  Fishing is even closer in the Columbia & nearby lakes.  A recent winner of the Canadian ‘Communities in Bloom' award, Trail is blazing a bright future for both citizens & visitors alike.

Additional information on Trail is found on Wikipedia.  Enjoy the sunshine!
