Slocan Valley - A Well-Kept Secret

The Slocan Valley is composed of 3 municipalities; New Denver, Silverton & the Village of Slocan.  The Valhalla Provincial Park covers a good deal of this area along Slocan Lake.  The sparsely populated area is another positive for the newcomer; more space, more scenery & most importantly, more quiet.

Surrounded by the Selkirk Mountains & alongside the shores of Slocan Lake, New Denver is a town based in the silver mining of yesterday & has become a peaceful place to call home.  With a population of 650 people, it is the largest community in the area.  Nearby Silverton offers a lakeside campground, along with interesting craft stores & art galleries.  The Village of Slocan further south is a great departure point for canoes & kayaks, along with a myriad of trails for the adventure seeker.

A beautiful 90-minute drive along Slocan River & Lake, the Slocan Valley is worth the tour to see peaceful villages in a priceless setting.  Get off the beaten track & discover something completely new.

Additional information on the Slocan Valley is at Wikipedia.  Enjoy the small towns throughout this idyllic area!
