Elkford - Wilderness Capital of BC

Elkford is a lovely spot set amongst glacier-fed lakes & Rocky Mountain splendour.  There’s plenty of ways to explore the surrounding area as Elkford offers over 40 km of mountain biking & hiking trails, some of which are located in the magnificent Elks Lake Provincial Park.  The 9-hole Mountain Meadows Golf Course off Highway 43 offers outdoor enthusiasts another change of pace.

Should you arrive in winter; no problem!  Elkford’s landscape offers plenty of snowmobiling opportunities, be they manageable trails for the family or mountain pathways for the adrenaline-seeker.  The local Wapiti Ski Hill has day & night skiing & the area offers great outings for the cross-country skier as well.

If you stick around a little longer, explore the town’s Recreation Center, with its hockey arena, curling rink, tennis courts & baseball diamonds.  If you care for a dip instead, make a splash at the Elkford Aquatic Center.  Whatever you do, let Elkford, Canada’s highest community at 1300 meters, offers you a pleasant experience during your visit.
