Central Kootenays

Crawford Bay - Waterfront Gem

Breathtaking Crawford Bay, midway on Kootenay Lake, could be described as paradise.  The town is part of the Kootenay Lake Region, which includes the communities of Boswell, Gray Creek, Kootenay Bay & Sirdar.  Sandy beaches warm your feet & clear water beckons you to take a plunge.  The Kokanee Springs Golf Resort, designed by Norman Woods, is a peaceful setting adorned with creeks running by.  If you like the course so much you’d like to stay the night, a brand new resort is there at your doorstep.

The creative setting of Crawford Bay seems to be a natural match for attracting talented artisans.  Traditional broom-making, glass blowing & barefoot handweaving are just some of the crafts made in this blossoming community of around 400.

Crawford Bay is also a great departure point for other places along Kootenay Lake.  Relaxing Ainsworth Hot Springs & the Balfour Golf Course are all reachable via the Kootenay Lake Ferry.  This is the longest free ferry service in the world, & operates between nearby Kootenay Bay & Balfour.  Cruise the lake & take in the sights & fresh air.  What more could you ask for?

Additional information on Crawford Bay is at Wikipedia.  Enjoy the lovely arts & crafts of this great spot.
