Castlegar - Hooked On Recreation

Castlegar, situated at the confluence of the Kootenay & Columbia Rivers, has great trout fishing opportunities & views.  Located between the Monashee & Selkirk Mountain ranges means superb downhill skiing is not far away at Red Mountain Resort in Rossland.  In town, the Castlegar Golf Club offers a nice variety of holes to measure your skill on.

Rich in local history, in Castlegar you can discover the Doukabors, a pacifist group of Russian immigrants, who in the early 20th century rejected Russia’s political system & moved to Canada.  Such information can be found at the Castlegar Station Museum, Doukabor Discovery Centre & Zuckerberg Island Heritage Park.

Castlegar is the 2nd largest city in the West Kootenays with a population of about 8,000 people.  It's main industries are mining, forestry & tourism & is home to West Kootenay Regional Airport

Driving into Castlegar northbound from Highway 3 is a pleasurable experience with the town & valley unfolding beneath.  A transportation hub of the area, Castlegar offers guests & residents the conveniences they need to feel comfortable & get the job done.  A healthy community where great education at Selkirk College is available, Castlegar is a potential place for your dreams to unfold.
